Our Charity

As a new business we wanted to make a difference right from the start. Wild About Wellington is proud to be a supporter of the Suzanne Aubert Home of Compassion, the home of the Wellington soup kitchen.

We want to make Wellington a great place for all, so each week we deliver goods and produce as a donation from Wild About Wellington. We are forming a nice bond and it is a highlight of the week to visit the soup kitchen to see the truly amazing work done by a handful of people. Over 70 meals a day are provided from donated food to the disadvantaged in our community. What energy and dedication - and they have been doing it for over 100 years!

Our goal is to increase our donation as our business grows. If you are in Wellington and would like to donate in any way, please contact us. We can always arrange delivery as our contribution.

Since its start, Wild About Wellington has supported the Suzanne Aubert Compassion Centre (soup kitchen) with regular donations of food. Jennifer Looman phones in and talks to Chef Kim Unsworth, who tells her what is running low. Sometimes it is vegetables, sometimes fruit.

At Compassion Centre, we really appreciate Jennifer's down to earth approach and her bright and breezy visits to deliver her weekly contributions. It is great to have a small business like Wild About Wellington, taking an interest in people who are on the margins in the city of Wellington.

Thank you Wild About Wellington! We feel really blessed to have been chosen as your means of helping people less fortunate than most.

A little about the Suzanne Aubert Compassion Centre:

The Suzanne Aubert Compassion Centre is in Central Wellington, not far from where the first soup kitchen in Buckle Street was established in 1899. From here the Sisters of Compassion are continuing to support the marginalised of our community by:

  • Providing meals
  • Friendship and hospitality
  • Spiritual ministry and fellowship
  • Being advocates for the disadvantaged
  • Visiting those in need
  • Bringing hope and dignity to those who ‘just survive’
